There are a lot of investment companies that want you to invest with them, some will appeal to certain people that might not appeal to others. This is because investment companies are tailored to people based on what they want from their investments. If you’re new to the game and want a company that is easy to navigate and place trades, then you’re most likely going to take a hit with higher fees. If you want low fees and don’t mind the complexity that comes with investing then you’ll want to stay away from the easier to use investment companies with higher fees. You’ll also have to take into account how long you want to hold your investments for, and review your strategy to ensure that your chosen investment broker fits this well.

1. Hargreaves Lansdown

A great choice for beginners and experienced investors. Not all advanced users use HL as it can edge on the expensive side due to high fees, but they have a lot of research insights that help investors with their trading decisions.

2. Fidelity

A great all round investment company for beginners or seasoned investors. With a great web trading platform. Unfortunately Fidelity is not available to US Customers.

3. Ameritrade

Ameritrade has a great mobile phone application in addition to the fantastic learning resources that the company offers. One issue is that Ameritrade don’t offer fractional shares trading, which is not always ideal for beginners with lower starting capital.

4. Charles Schwab

Charles Schwab is a great choice for those that want to invest in ETFs. It is also a great broker all round too. It uses a StreetSmart ETF screener, but this can sometimes limit investors to the single system. Charles Schwab can be a more expensive on other invesments such as options.

5. Tastyworks

A fast upcoming invesment broker with a good fee structure when it comes to Options trading. For any other trading outside of options you’re in the wrong place. Additional portfolio analysis also requires you to set up an account with Quiet Foundation which is a part of the Tastytrade empire.
